On Sunday, Feb. 21, police went to inspect reports of an alleged shooting at the Magic Lantern “topless” bar on Route 20 in Palmer.

Monson Police were told by multiple patrons that a shooting had occurred at the club around 1 a.m. on Sunday, police said.

Bar management is not cooperating with the investigation, Monson Police said, so officers are reaching out to the community for anyone with information about the incident.

Monson Police and Massachusetts State Police are investigating the incident.

Anyone with information can contact the police at  (413) 267-5136.

People in the community have been asking questions about the alleged shooting, including why a strip club was open during COVID-19 in the first place.

Under an emergency order by Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker, bars have been closed to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Restaurants with bars can stay open as long as food is being served to each patron as well as alcohol. Like many Massachusetts bars during COVID-19, the Magic Lantern may have quickly added a menu item or two to its offerings to become a restaurant and stay open during the pandemic.
